Back in August 2023, Pitch2Table was but an idea. By October 2023 we had finished a round of user research and released our first public version of the platform to a small group of users. To mark the occasion, Version 13 brings auto-filing publisher emails and more.

We celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Pitch2Table being live!

As of today, Version 13 is out now. This release contains some features designed to make your life as a designer just a bit easier. Designing and pitching games is already hard, so Pitch2Table can help where it can. We have a way to auto-file publisher emails to your pitch record. The app now includes our sell-sheet sense checks, and PublisherFit scores sort by relative strength. That brings them closer to how they’re calculated and, based on testing, should make them clearer for you.

Auto-file publisher emails

It’s great having a record of what you sent to a publisher and when, especially across multiple email threads. If you’re working with a co-designer, not every reply is a reply-all, and we get it. Copying and pasting updates into Pitch2Table is a chore. Now you don’t have to!

This release brings auto-filing publisher emails. We generate a unique-to-you email address. You can forward emails to it or CC it on emails to publishers. We work out the publisher from their domain and your game from the name in the subject. If both are clear, the email is attached to the pitch record.

If we can’t work it out, we’ll suggest a match in your inbox for you to confirm. Once an email thread is linked to a pitch, we’ll automatically file future emails on that thread.

How cool is that?

PublisherFit relative suitability

We’ve recently rolled out a new publisher directory. A new PublisherDNA refresh process keeps it up to date every 6 weeks! While we were doing that, we listened to the feedback on both PublisherDNA and PublisherFit. Mostly it was about what the tier labels and numbers mean.

The numbers were hard to explain. It’s a lot of maths, you can’t get 100%, and what is a good score anyway?

We’ve now adjusted the maths to find better matches (so far so good). We’ve also changed how the labels work, so they now show relative strength. This means your best match is: “Strongest” rather than “Tier 1”. It isn’t a straight label replacement, a lot of work was done behind the scenes.

What doesn’t change is that the best way to be sure a publisher is a good fit is to reach out to them. We hope this feature will give you some places to start and help you consider publishers you may not have thought of. Always check their website for their latest submission guidelines, and make your own assessment about whether a publisher is right for your game.

As with the prior iterations, no generative AI or LLMs make use of your data in calculating PublisherFit scores.

Sizzle open counts

Sizzle links now show how many times they’ve been opened. You can see whether a publisher has watched your sizzle before you follow up.

Other enhancements and fixes

  • We fixed a login crash that occurred for some users on Android
  • We fixed autocorrect changing your filter the moment you try to tap on a publisher
  • We fixed a stale publisher warning showing up with an empty year.

As with all releases, Version 13 is available now.
